Progressive Christianity

Turbulent Books ‘Turbulent Books makes the books of David Rhodes available to a popular audience. Full of stories brimming with laughter, and sometimes with pain, the books do not come from the comfort zone of the institutional Church but from the streets of our own towns and cities, where David Rhodes has worked alongside homeless people for a number of years.’

The Turning MagazineThe Turning is an online magazine that examines how spirituality can enrich modern life. Specifically, we’re interested in whether Christianity can be a path to compassion, or whether it has run out of steam, over-burdened by an addiction to power and self-righteous judgmentalism. We don’t claim to have the answers.’

The Center for Progressive Christianity

St Matthew-in-the-City Anglican Church in Auckland, New Zealand ‘We are passionate advocates for progressive Christianity. Our vicar, Ian Lawton, is a regular commentator in the New Zealand media on a wide variety of issues, including euthanasia, politics, prostitution, sexuality and as an alternative voice to fundamentalism. We have also hosted speaking events for Bishop John Spong on his 2001 New Zealand tour and will be doing so again in November 2003. We produce a free weekly e-Zine, called SMACA, which we describe as a forum for progressive Christianity, philosophy and social issues, as well as personal life and faith matters.’ You can subscribe to SMACA via the St Matthew’s website.

Radical Faith

Jesus Radicals ‘Jesus Radicals is a source of discipleship for the church at large. We do not pretend to be anything more or less than a resource. However this resource is designed for Christians who know something is wrong with the church. It is a place for those who are tired of the power games that are being practiced in Jesus' name and those who do not accept the use of violence or lording it over others.’
